| Obverse lettering | لا اله الا الله محمد رسول الله علی ولی الله (Translation: There is no god except Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Ali is the Friend of Allah) |
| Reverse description | The reverse features a central cartouche of bold naskh calligraphy arranged in multiple horizontal lines within a circular border of small pellets. The legend invokes the name of Karim Khan and records the mint name Basra (Umm al-Bilad) along with the AH date 1192. Above the cartouche, a single word emerges beyond the inner border into the broad flat outer field, while the AH date numerals appear below the pellet border at the base of the design. The irregular hammered flan and the absence of any pictorial devices are characteristic of Zand-dynasty gold coinage struck at provincial mints. |
