| Reverse description | The reverse displays a prominent single-line Persian legend in bold Nasta'liq script dominated by the invocation 'Ya Karim' (O Generous One / O Karim), a dual reference to both the divine epithet and the reigning Vakil, Karim Khan Zand. Below the central legend, the mint name 'Dar al-Marz Rasht' and the regnal date AH 1180 are inscribed in smaller script. The calligraphy is deeply and crisply struck, with characteristic swelling strokes and decorative flourishes filling the round flan. The composition is typical of Zand hammered gold issues, with the entire field devoted to the inscriptional program and no ornamental border. |
