Reverse description The reverse displays the mint name and AH regnal year within a central quadrilobe cartouche, a distinctive decorative device employed on Safavid hammered coinage to frame the essential administrative information. The inscription 'zarb Shah Abad' (struck at Shahabad) appears together with the AH date 981, corresponding to 1573 CE. A surrounding marginal field contains additional pious or royal inscriptions in nastaliq script. The strike is characteristic of the irregular flan shape typical of mid-sixteenth-century Iranian gold issues.
