| Obverse description | Obverse of this small hammered copper minuto is heavily worn and poorly struck, consistent with the low-denomination coinage of the Alghero mint under Charles V. The field is largely flat and featureless due to wear and the irregular flan, with only faint traces of design elements discernible. A partial Latin legend referencing CAROLVS IMPERAT (Charles, Emperor) surrounds the central device, though much of the lettering is lost to corrosion and surface degradation. The coin's irregular planchet and crude workmanship are characteristic of mid-16th-century Sardinian hammered copper issues. |
