| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned bust of King Charles I facing left, wearing a ruff collar and mantle, with flowing hair visible beneath the crown. The denomination mark VI/8 (signifying six shillings and eightpence Scots, equivalent to half a merk) appears to the right of the bust in the field. The legend surrounds the effigy within a beaded inner circle, with the king's titles abbreviated in Latin.
