Reverse description The denomination 1/2 MARK is boldly displayed in two lines at the centre of the field, with the fraction rendered in large numerals above the word MARK. Four olive or laurel sprays radiate symmetrically around the central legend, their branches crossing to form a decorative wreath-like arrangement within the beaded inner border. The Munich Mint mark D appears centrally below the denomination, just above the lower border. The plain field and dotted border frame the composition with characteristic Imperial German restraint.
