Obverse description The German Imperial eagle displayed, bearing on its breast a large heraldic shield charged with the arms of the Empire, surmounted by an Imperial crown with ribbons, and flanked by a wreath of oak branches with acorns. The mintmark 'D' appears at the bottom of the design, within the wreath. A raised inner border of fine beads runs along the inner rim.
