| Opmerkingen |
Fraustadt — now Wschowa in western Poland — was a small Prussian town in the Province of Posen, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it resorted to privately printed Notgeld when wartime metal shortages gutted the coinage supply. Carl Flemming AG, a well-established printing and publishing house in Glogau, handled enormous volumes of this kind of municipal emergency paper across Silesia and Posen during 1916–1918.
The Magistrat issues from Fraustadt are among the less-documented of the Posen series — the town had a mixed German-Polish population and was administratively absorbed into the new Polish state after 1918, which disrupted the local archival record considerably.
