Obverse description Printed in green, black, and teal tones, the obverse is framed by a decorative border of scrollwork and repeating ornamental motifs enclosing a central panel with the denomination '1/2 Mark' in bold Gothic lettering within an octagonal guilloche cartouche, beneath which the issuing authority 'Der Magistrat' appears with two facsimile signatures. Two lateral vignettes flank the central panel — a peasant ploughing a field with a horse to the left and a craftsman at work to the right — both executed in a fine letterpress illustrative style. The series designation 'Reihe V' and a red serial number appear at the lower portion, with the validity inscription 'Gültig bis 31. Dezember 1920' at the lower centre and the printer's imprint along the bottom margin.
