Reverse description A cross formed by four heraldic shields arranged in cruciform pattern, each bearing the fleur-de-lis arms of France; single fleurs-de-lis are placed in each of the four angles between the shields. The uppermost shield is surmounted by an open royal crown, and the mint letter 'A' (for Paris) appears at the centre of the cross. The Latin Christogram legend is distributed around the periphery within a toothed border, referencing the divine authority of the French monarchy.
