| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the quartered arms of the Order and the Grand Master Emery of Amboise, divided into four quarters by a plain cross, with the upper-left and lower-right quarters bearing vertical pales (the d'Amboise family arms) and the upper-right and lower-left quarters displaying the cross of the Order of St. John. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend in uncial characters encircles the entire design, reading the Grand Master's name and title, separated by pellet stops. |
