Reverse description Irregularly shaped hammered copper flan displaying a three-line Arabic legend in bold raised relief across the central field. The inscription reads 'Sultan of the land and the sea, year 1240' (AH), referencing the Hijri dating system employed on Maldivian coinage of this reign. The calligraphy is rendered in a rough, hand-engraved style consistent with locally produced Islamic hammered coinage. A horizontal dividing line separates the date from the upper portion of the legend. The reverse exhibits the same crude but characterful workmanship as the obverse, with scattered areas of copper patination across the flan.
