Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Francis Joseph I facing right, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail characteristic of mid-19th century Austrian coinage. The emperor is depicted as a young man with short hair adorned with a laurel wreath, his truncation visible at the lower neck. The circular legend reads FRANZ JOS.I.V.G.G.KAISER V.OESTERREICH, arranged around the periphery, with the mint mark A positioned in the lower field beneath the bust. The border is composed of a continuous row of beads.
