The design is rendered in the crude, hand-struck style typical of mid-fifteenth-century Frisian municipal coinage. The peripheral legend reads MONETA NOVA DOCKVM in Latin characters, encircling the central cross motif. The overall strike is irregular, consistent with hammered technique on a hand-cut flan. |

The eagle is rendered in a stylised Gothic manner characteristic of Frisian civic coinage of the first half of the fifteenth century. The surrounding peripheral legend reads BENEDICT QVI VENIT in Latin, a devotional phrase referencing the Biblical acclamation.
