| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse bears the crowned Bohemian arms displayed on an ornate baroque cartouche-style shield, centrally positioned in the field. The regnal date is divided and placed in the upper field on either side of the crown surmounting the shield. The fractional denomination appears inscribed in the lower field beneath the shield. The overall design follows the baroque heraldic idiom characteristic of mid-eighteenth century Habsburg Bohemian coinage issued under Maria Theresia. |

Maria Theresia's right to the Bohemian throne was the central dispute of the War of Austrian Succession, which broke out immediately after her accession in 1740. The Prague mint resumed coining for her only after Prussian and Bavarian forces had twice occupied the city — the second occupation ending in 1742 — making the earliest dates in this series a product of a mint operating under contested sovereignty. The ½ Kreuzer denomination served the lowest tier of daily commerce, and billon issues of this weight were notoriously vulnerable to unofficial clipping.
