| 背面描述 | The reverse bears a four-line italic script inscription centered in the field, displaying the denomination and date. The fractional numeral '1/2' appears at the top, followed by 'Kreuzer' in flowing italic lettering, then the mintmaster's initials 'L.M.' on the third line, and the date '1809' at the base. The entire inscription is rendered in an elegant italic typeface characteristic of early nineteenth-century German coinage, within a plain denticulated border. |

Saxe-Hildburghausen was among the smallest and most financially precarious of the Thuringian duchies, its treasury chronically strained by the obligations Frederick I incurred through his enthusiastic alignment with Napoleon. The copper fractional issues of 1809 were a practical necessity for a territory whose economy ran almost entirely on small daily transactions that silver simply couldn't reach.
