| 正面描述 | Central field displays the crowned and mantled coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Baden, featuring the distinctive diagonal banded shield supported by elaborate drapery and surmounted by a large grand ducal crown. The mantling falls symmetrically to either side of the shield. The circular legend GROSHERZOGTHUM BADEN runs along the periphery, flanked by small decorative stars at the base, with the date 1814 prominently displayed in large numerals beneath the arms. The coin is bordered by a finely beaded rim. |

Baden's coinage underwent significant reorganization following the Confederation of the Rhine period, and this 1814 issue appeared just as the Napoleonic political order that had elevated Baden to a Grand Duchy was collapsing entirely. Charles (Karl) II Ludwig Friedrich had ruled since 1811 and found himself navigating the Congress of Vienna's redrawing of German boundaries while maintaining the monetary infrastructure of a newly enlarged state. The copper fractions were a practical necessity for a territory whose population had roughly doubled through Napoleonic-era territorial grants.
The Jaeger 2 FH#16a reference denotes a die variant distinguished within the FH (Freiburger Historiker) cataloguing system — worth cross-checking against AKS#41 before attributing.
