| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts a walking bear facing left in profile, rendered in low relief on an irregular flan. Above the bear, a displayed eagle with spread wings serves as the civic arms of Bern. The peripheral legend MONE BERNENS : runs around the coin within the outer border, identifying the issuing city. The design is executed in the characteristic crude hammered style of early seventeenth-century Swiss cantonal coinage, without an inner circle. |
