Obverse description Central field bears the crowned imperial cypher of Tsar Alexander II, formed by an interlaced Cyrillic letter 'А' surmounted by the Roman numeral 'II', all beneath an ornate imperial crown with ribbons flanking either side. The cypher is framed by a wreath composed of olive branch to the left and oak branch to the right, tied at the base, rendered in fine relief against a plain field. No peripheral legend appears; the design is austere and heraldic in character.
