| Obverse description | Half-length armored effigy of King Christian III facing right, depicted in high relief wearing elaborate plate armor and holding a sceptre in his right hand, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A Latin royal legend encircles the effigy between the inner beaded ring and an outer beaded border near the rim. The portrait is rendered in the Renaissance style typical of mid-sixteenth-century German-influenced Danish coinage, with considerable detail in the articulation of the armor. |
