| Reverse description | The reverse displays a Persian inscription in flowing nastaliq script, arranged in two diagonal registers across the field, typical of Safavid royal coinage. The legend identifies the issuer as Abbas, servant of the Shah of Sovereignty, along with the mint name Urdu (the royal military camp mint). The bold, sweeping strokes of the nastaliq calligraphy are deeply incuse into the hammered gold flan, with the irregular edge and textured surface consistent with hand-struck Safavid production. No additional ornamental elements are present in the field. |
