Additional information

Albert V's half guldentaler issues of this period fall squarely within his aggressive program of Counter-Reformation consolidation — he expelled Protestant nobles from Bavaria in 1563 and spent the following decade cementing Catholic institutional control, partly financed through coinage reform. The guldentaler denomination itself was Bavaria's attempt to align with the emerging large-silver trade coin standard gaining traction across the Empire.

Hahn 45 is notably scarcer than the full guldentaler of the same reign.
