Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing portrait bust of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair curling over the temples and nape. The youthful effigy is executed in a neoclassical style, with the engraver's signature VOIGT incused in small capitals beneath the truncation. The circumferential legend reads LUDWIG II KŒNIG V. BAYERN, distributed to left and right of the portrait, with a beaded border encircling the entire field.
