Reverse description Central field displays the fractional denomination 1/2 GULDEN in three lines of bold serif lettering, surmounted by the date 1838 on a fourth line, all enclosed within a luxuriant wreath of oak branches bearing acorns and serrated leaves. The wreath is tied at the base with a ribbon bow of fine workmanship and extends symmetrically on both sides to frame the inscription. The toothed border encircles the entire design, and the plain field around the lettering retains the mirror finish characteristic of a presentation or pattern piece.
