Obverse description Central crowned quartered shield bearing the arms of Utrecht: the upper-left and lower-right quarters display a chequered pattern, while the upper-right and lower-left quarters each bear a rampant lion. A large ornate crown surmounts the shield, with the date 1682 divided across the crown's upper flanks. The encircling Latin legend reads MO · NO · ARGENT · ORDIN · TRAI, arranged around the periphery of the field in a bold, well-struck relief characteristic of late seventeenth-century Dutch hammered coinage.
