Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden, depicted as a young man with short wavy hair and a light moustache, in high relief against a flat field. The truncation is clean, with the engraver's name VOIGT incised in small capitals at the base. The circular legend reads FRIEDRICH GROSSHERZOG VON BADEN, arranged along the upper and lateral periphery. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style characteristic of Carl Friedrich Voigt's work. A finely executed inner border of beads frames the entire design.
