| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a stylised Hanseatic cog, a medieval single-masted merchant sailing vessel, shown in a bold and simplified Art Deco graphic style. The ship is rendered in profile facing left, with two prominent square towers — fore and aft castles — rising above the hull, and a small flag atop the main mast. The hull rests upon three large stylised rolling waves rendered as sweeping curvilinear forms that fill the lower portion of the field. The design is unlettered, the ship occupying the full diameter of the coin within a plain raised rim, conveying Danzig's historic identity as a great Hanseatic maritime trading city. |
