Additional information

Anthony Günther of Oldenburg ruled Jever as its last independent lord, dying in 1667 without legitimate heirs — a succession crisis that ultimately delivered the lordship to Anhalt-Zerbst. These half grote pieces were struck in the final years of his life, during a period when his administration was already managing the anticipation of territorial transfer. Jever's independent coinage output was always modest, and issues from this terminal phase of Anthony Günther's rule are correspondingly scarce in any grade.
