The four quadrants formed by the cross arms are each filled with a trefoil or stylised leaf motif, creating a leafy cross design characteristic of Dauphiné ecclesiastical issues of this period. The surrounding Latin legend, introduced by a cross pommée, identifies the see of Embrun and runs between the inner circle and the coin's irregular outer edge. |
