| Aanvullende informatie |
Philibert I inherited Savoy at age seven in 1472, leaving real authority with his mother Yolande of France and a fractious ducal council for most of his reign. The decade that produced this issue was defined less by the duke than by Savoyard entanglement in the Swiss Confederation's wars against Charles the Bold of Burgundy — conflicts that placed Savoy in an almost impossibly awkward diplomatic position between France and the Burgundian territories on its northern doorstep. Coinage reform was among the least of the regency's concerns.
Philibert died in 1482, aged seventeen, leaving no heir. The MIR CS 202 attribution places this among a series issued under tight French monetary influence following Yolande's close ties to her brother Louis XI.
