Reverse description Central field features a plain Greek cross with equal arms, contained within a plain inner circle that divides the design from the surrounding legend. The cross arms extend nearly to the inner circle, filling the field in a manner typical of the gros tournois tradition. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by lozenge-shaped stops, carries the standard devotional formula invoking the name of the Lord alongside the mint designation of Auxonne and the denomination as an obolus. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hammered billon coinage of the Burgundian feudal period.
