| Obverse description | Central field bearing the quartered heraldic shield of Bar, surmounted by a cardinal's hat with pendant tassels, all executed in the flat, bold relief characteristic of late medieval hammered coinage. The shield displays the arms of the Duchy of Bar in a straightforward heraldic arrangement.
