Frederick III issued this half groschen from Graz as part of his effort to consolidate mint production within his Inner Austrian territories during the 1460s, a period when his authority was repeatedly challenged — most acutely by his own brother Albert VI, who seized Vienna in 1462 and held Frederick virtually besieged in the Hofburg for months. Minting activity at Graz carried political weight precisely because it was one of the few administrative centers that remained reliably under Frederick's control during these years.
The CNA Fb 15 attribution places this among the documented Graz issues of his fifth minting period.
