Obverse description Central field displays the quartered Saxon coat of arms — a shield barry of seven with a central bend sinister charged with crancelin — surmounted by a royal crown. The armorial shield is rendered in fine detail within a plain field. A circular legend reading HERZOGTH.S. COB.-GOTHA surrounds the arms, with the mintmark B appearing below the shield at the base. The design is enclosed by a beaded border.
