Reverse description Central field features a long-shafted cross fleury or cross with decorative terminals, rendered in relief against a plain hammered field. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, around which the Latin circumferential legend is disposed between the inner and outer beaded borders. The design is stark and emblematic, typical of minor hammered silver denominations of the period, with the mint name of Nancy recorded in the inscription. The irregular flan and variable strike are consistent with hand-hammered production of the early sixteenth century.
