Alexander the Good's reign over Moldavia lasted an exceptional 32 years, a period of relative stability that allowed the principality to develop a coherent coinage program at a time when its neighbors were perpetually destabilized by Ottoman expansion. This fractional issue belongs to his second coinage type, distinguished from the first by subtle die modifications that numismatists have used to sequence the series — though precise dating within the reign remains contested.
At 0.40g, these pieces circulated hard and are rarely found without significant wear.
