Obverse description Armored equestrian figure of Count John I of Namur facing right, mounted on a horse in full stride, the rider bearing a shield charged with the lion of Namur and carrying a lance or sword. Above the horse, a crowned helmet is visible. The entire central device is surrounded by a beaded inner circle, with the Gothic-style legend reading around the periphery in uncial Latin characters.

Reverse description A bold long cross pattee occupies the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The four quadrants formed by the arms of the cross are plain. An intermediate legend band separates the inner circle from the outer legend, with the inscription distributed around the full circumference in uncial Latin lettering. Small stops punctuate the legend. The overall design follows the standard Flemish-influenced gros type of the early 14th century.
