Obverse description Draped bust of Philip IV facing left, wearing a ruff collar and crown, set within an inner beaded circle. The royal effigy is rendered in a compact, somewhat archaic hammered style typical of Catalan coinage of the period. A Latin legend surrounds the portrait between the inner beaded circle and the outer border, reading clockwise. The overall design reflects the standard royal portraiture conventions of the Spanish Habsburg monetary tradition.
