Fernando I's reign over Catalonia was itself the product of the Compromise of Caspe in 1412, an arbitration panel's decision that ended a dynastic crisis following the extinction of the House of Barcelona-Aragon. The Catalan coinage of his brief four-year reign is correspondingly scarce — Fernando died in 1416 before any significant monetary reform could be established, leaving mintage volumes low across all denominations.

Cru#764 specimens typically show uneven flan preparation characteristic of the Barcelona workshop of this period.
