Reverse description Long cross extending to the inner beaded circle, dividing the field into four quarters, each bearing one of the arms of the royal shield: fleurs-de-lis for France in the first and fourth quarters, and the three passant guardant lions of England in the second and third quarters. The quarters alternate in the standard English arrangement of the period. A beaded inner circle surrounds the quartered shield, with the mint legend CIVI TAS CAN TOR distributed around the outer field between inner and outer beaded borders, identifying the Canterbury mint.
