Obverse description Draped bust of Philip II facing left, with curled hair and a ruffled collar, occupying the majority of the field. A small rosette mintmark appears below the bust at the base. The circumferential legend in Latin reads DOMINVS · MIHI · ADIVTOR, separated by pellet stops and a floral ornament, running clockwise around the periphery. The portrait is rendered in the late Renaissance hammered style typical of Netherlandish coinage of the mid-sixteenth century.
