| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Philip II facing right, laureate with a wreath, wearing an elaborately engraved breastplate and ruff collar in the Renaissance style. A small mintmark appears in the left field. The surrounding legend reads DOMINVS · MICHI · ADIVTOR, referencing Psalm 118, and runs along the inner border of the coin's circumference. The portrait is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Habsburg coinage. |
