(Translation: Richard, king of England and France.)
Reverse description A floriated cross with oak-leaf terminals extending to the inner circle, with a central quatrefoil at the intersection. The four angles of the cross are alternately charged with English leopards passant and French lilies (fleurs-de-lis), reflecting the dual claim of the English crown to both kingdoms. The reverse legend in Gothic uncial script, separated from the design by a beaded border, carries a devotional inscription invoking divine assistance.
