| Opis rewersu | A floriated cross pattée with fleurs-de-lis at each terminal occupies the central field, with the mint mark letter B (for Rouen) at the centre of the cross. The four quadrants formed by the arms of the cross are each decorated with additional fleur-de-lis ornaments. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, separated from the central motif by a beaded border, invoking the sovereignty of Christ. The overall composition is symmetrical and typical of the hammered demi-écu d'or type of the reign of Charles IX. |
