The reverse presents an allegorical figure of Caritas (Charity) rendered in the Renaissance manner, depicted as a standing crowned female figure with flowing drapery, flanked by two small children or putti, one on each side, in a scene emblematic of maternal charity and generosity. The inscription CHARITAS appears in Latin capital letters along the lower portion of the field. The design is enclosed within a beaded border, consistent with the hammered coinage style of the Italian Renaissance. A suspension hole is visible at the top of the flan. |
