Additional information

Kalimullah Shah's reign lasted barely two years before the Bahmani Sultanate — already long fragmented among its breakaway Deccan successor states — effectively ceased to function as a political entity. He was the last sultan to issue coinage in the dynasty's name, though real power had passed entirely to the Barid Shahi minister Amir Barid decades earlier. This piece is among the final emissions of a sultanate that had dominated the Deccan for nearly two centuries.
