| 表面の説明 | The obverse features the iconic allegorical figure of the Semeuse (the Sower), a draped female figure striding purposefully to the left, scattering seeds with her outstretched right hand while carrying a bag of seed over her left arm. Her hair streams freely behind her in the wind, rendered with exceptional sculptural detail befitting a piéfort striking. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the periphery, and the engraver's signature O. ROTY appears in small characters along the lower rim. The composition, originally created by Louis-Oscar Roty for the Third Republic coinage, is rendered here with heightened relief characteristic of the piéfort format. |

Piéforts from the Monnaie de Paris during this period were struck exclusively for collectors and never entered circulation — produced at twice the standard planchet thickness using the same working dies as the circulation issue. The Semeuse design by Louis-Oscar Roty had been in continuous use, in various forms, since 1897, making it one of the longest-lived coin designs in modern French monetary history.
F#198P places this squarely within the Florange-Gadoury piéfort numbering system, the standard French reference for such pieces.
