Obverse description Bare-headed bust of King Louis XVIII facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and classical drapery at the truncation, engraved by Michaut whose signature appears at the base of the bust. The royal effigy is depicted in the neoclassical tradition, with a strong profile and naturalistic facial features. The circumferential legend reads LOUIS XVIII ROI DE FRANCE, separated by a terminal stop, and is bounded by an inner beaded border and an outer milled rim.
