Additional information

Charles X was deposed in the July Revolution of 1830 — barricades went up in Paris on July 27th, and he abdicated three days later. Michaut's pattern never had a chance. Produced speculatively in anticipation of a coinage reform that never materialized under Charles, it represents one of the final numismatic gestures of the Restoration monarchy, struck within months of its collapse.
