Obverse description Bare-headed bust of King Charles X facing left, rendered in a neoclassical style with finely detailed curling hair. The engraver's name MICHAUT appears in small capitals at the base of the truncation. The circular legend CHARLES X ROI DE FRANCE. runs along the periphery, divided by the portrait, with a plain inner field.

Reverse description Central shield of France semé with three fleurs-de-lis arranged two over one on a horizontally lined field, surmounted by the royal crown of France adorned with fleurs-de-lis and a cross pommée. The shield is flanked by two decorative branches — an olive branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right — tied at the base. The denomination 1/2 appears to the left of the shield and F. to the right. The date and mint mark 1829 BB are inscribed in the exergue below the branches.
